Matt makes up for only getting one WINGS HAUSER episode out this June by having Joe and Jack (Rogue Riffers) on to talk about 1989's BEDROOM EYES II,
a neo-noir erotic crime thriller co-starring Linda Blair and Veronica
Hart. With eyes clearly on Hitchcock and DePalma, this hypnotic mess
falls far short but definitely entertains!
Matt is joined by Andrew Shaw and Devin Bruce to discuss the newly released horror film Archons, the second film from the director of Black Mountain Side (2016), which Matt became a big fan of after seeing it at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. Archons
is the story of falling-from-grace rock group half a decade after the
release of their hit single, as they travel deep into the Canadian
wilderness on a spirit journey.
Adam & Kyle return to review DRAGON HUNT, the
canuxploitation sequel to TWIN DRAGON ENCOUNTER, sees the villain Jake
return w/ a new metal hand & an armada of mercenaries. He wants the
heads of Mick & Marty McNamara as revenge for losing the battle
(and his hand) to them in the first movie. Ninjas, poachers,
beast-masters...oh, my!
Pew! Pew! Aaaahhhhh! Ka-BOOOM!
Sir, has anyone ever told you that you look like W.C. Fields?
Matt is joined by Kyle and Adam to discuss the 1986 Canuxploitation martial arts classic TWIN DRAGON ENCOUNTER. Mullets, mustaches, matching vans...SOLD! This movie stars Michael and Martin McNamara, twin kickboxing brothers who produced the film to brand themselves as Canada's answer to Chuck Norris (or the animated version of Rambo).
Matt and Scott are joined by Matt's super-cool neighbor Justin to discuss THINGS (Canada, 1989). You can get the episode on iTunes or from here (right-click and Save As).
This movie would leave most casual viewers shivering, huddled in a blanket next to an ambulance, drinking tea or cocoa, so it was nice that Justin was not catatonic and was able to show us on the doll where this movie touched him. Mere words cannot describe this one, folks. It's a low-budget film made by horror fans, but beyond that, it's psychoactive psychotronica all the way. Plots are jettisoned, time has no meaning, porn stars deliver the news from another dimension...it must be seen to be believed.
Unfortunately, this movie is not available for free online (unless you really know how to look), but we wholeheartedly agreed this is worth the ticket price...plus, after you've seen it, you can show it to your friends and enjoy their reactions!
"This is Amber Lynn, coming to you live from the this-guy's-mom's-utility-room-in-the-basement studios."
Our hero, sort of...I guess?
This is how my wife found me in the garage after watching this movie.
A still from the interminable pulling-the-guy-up-to-the-bridge scene.
Next up: we have some '70s dreck for you featuring Tony Curtis & Burgess Meredith! It's the infamously bad The Manitou: A psychic's girlfriend finds out that a lump on her back is a growing
reincarnation of a 400 year-old demonic Native American spirit.
Sounds fun, right?!Plus, it's from the director of the blaxploitation Exorcist rip-off Abby!
The new, belated episode is here. We missed Kyle, but we had a blast talking to our dear friend from the North, Devin Bruce. The Hard Rock Zombies episode is available through iTunes or here (right-click and 'save as').
We discussed 1985's The Peanut Butter Solution, a warped and bizarre "family" film from our neighbors to the north. This is about a kid who got his hair scared off, so the ghosts of some winos he was nice to give him a recipe to make hair restorer...seriously. He overdoes it and becomes a hair-growing machine...then he gets kidnapped. It's weird. Oh, and Celine Dion sings on the soundtrack. Ugh.
You can get the episode on iTunes or download it directly here (right-click and 'save as').
"Apply diarrhea and spittoon-contents liberally directly to scalp"
NEXT UP:
We'll be watching the Italian godfather of gore Lucio Fulci's fantasy epic CONQUEST...a film that can't possibly live to its poster...or can it?
Scott picked this next film. It's one that's often cited as a favorite of the pre-Internet "I'm not crazy, I actually saw this movie. I swear it's real" days. Remember those?
We here TCTT™ are very excited about offering you a movie with riffs Ă la the comedy brains of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and RiffTrax. We were so excited to get started, we picked a public domain movie, Bloody Pit of Hell, without checking to see if it had been done...it has.
Not to be discouraged, we decided to press on (without seeing the RT version) and treat this movie as a "pilot." The film should be available by the end of February. The thing is, we've had so much fun getting ready for it, we already know we want to do more. We're hoping to join the RiffTrax "iRiff" family and offer our second video through their site. So, without further ado, our next movie for download with riffs will be CATHY'S CURSE (a.k.a. Cauchemares), 1977.
And, following that, in the Spring, we'll riff the sexy Invasion of the Bee Girls!
You've been asking, so here it is!
On this episode, Joe & Matt are joined by guest Dave Alluisi (writer, editor, podcaster, appreciater of nonsense) to talk about Jon-Mikl Thor's hard-rockin' Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare. The episode is available at thearchive page and on iTunes.
Grab your bow and your quiver of arrows. Gather every mirror in the house. Snuggle up with a poodle named Chocolate and get ready for our podcast covering THE VIDEO DEAD! It will be published this weekend.
After that, we will have a special episode where we'll be joined by our friend Dave Alluisi to discuss Canucksploitation butt-rock extravaganza Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare.
