SCALPS (1983)

Friend of the show Andrew picked up Scalps on Blu-ray and another buddy, Ben, joined us to discuss this $15k '80s slasher...er...scalper...about archaeology students on a dig who face the angry spirit of Black Claw, the sorcerer of a massacred tribe of Native Americans. Andrew writes comics, like Culdesac.

TCTT Coronavirus Revival* Is Here!

*For our sanity, we're reviving the show during the pandemic to give us an excuse to talk together and have a much-needed laugh.

Matt is joined by Joe Kincher and Jason Farrell to discuss NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR, an infamous anthology film from 1985 that hacks 3 unrelated feature films into a delirious mess. God and Satan ride a train together and determine the fate of the characters from some weird-ass movie made even more weird-ass by hatchet-job editing. Check it out!

The Return of the Curse of That's Cool, That's Trash's Ghost!

We hope all of you out there are staying home and staying safe. We've found that we're doing that easily, but staying SANE in these crazy times is another thing altogether. We decided that a fun alternative to watching the news and scrolling through Twitter endlessly would be to revive the show to help with our isolation stress and cabin fever. Hopefully, some new episodes would be a fun diversion for you, too. We're aiming for an episode a week. Some of the upcoming titles are pictured below. Have a title you always wanted us to do? Want to be a guest on the show? Let us know if in the comments below or on Twitter @that_trash

The G-g-g-ghosts of TCTT Christmas Past

Our latest episode, Ep99 - Night Killer (1990), is not only our last 'regular' episode, but it's also the last Christmas episode. Yep, it's a movie set during Christmas and lest you think we're reaching, a Christmas gift plays a dramatic role in the story, so we're counting.
We've compiled the Christmas episodes we've done over the years here, to make them easy to find for our listeners who might need a diversion from 'family fun' this season. Happy Holidays to you and have a wonderful New Year! Thank you for listening. We have one finale episode left that will be the original TCTT crew* left to go. After that, we'll finish our Attack of the Mushroom People riff and give that away and then close up shop for the foreseeable future. Cheers!

Demon Cop!!!

Matt's joined by regular guest Jacob Balcom and his cousin Seth Garon, who returns to talk about DEMON COP, the Blood Meridian or The Sound and the Fury of psychotronic auteur films. Demon Cop seems to be the tragic story of a widower who becomes the host of a demon of retribution & changes into a beast with the moon to stalk the members of Denver/Aurora Hills gangs. A virtually impenetrable web of exposition, non-sequitur scenes, and kaleidoscopic plot that simply must been seen to be believed.

WINGS HAUSER 2019: Wilding (1990)

In the aftermath of the Central Park Jogger case, two L.A. cops (demi-god Wings Hauser & Joey Travolta) clash with disaffected and detached teens of their city who are on a violent rampage. Jack & Lad from the Rogue Riffers join us to discuss this important message film ripped from yesterday's headlines...and more importantly, Wings Hauser.

WINGS HAUSER 2019: Street Asylum

Our 2nd annual Wings Hauser Month starts with a bang:
Jacob Balcom and Joe Kincher are back to discuss STREET ASYLUM: a quasi sci-fi tale about b-modded cops wilding out on the criminal scum of the not-at-all-future L.A.Featuring Nixon Watergate thug G. Gordon Liddy as a fascist ex-police running for mayor.

HALLOWEEN IN APRIL: Hack-o'-Lantern

Jason Farrell and Joey Cruz join Matt to celebrate Walpurgisnacht/Hexennacht (or what we just call 'Halloween in April') by watching Hack-o'-Lantern a much sought-after VHS horror flick starring Hy Pyke as the satanic pumpkin-farming grandfather of the Drindle family. It's Halloween Night and Grandpa's been grooming grandson Tommy to dedicate his life to the Dark One (like a Satanic confirmation?). Meanwhile, someone in the coven's robes wearing a mask is dispatching folks, willy-nilly.

THE THING THAT *COULD* DIE (OR, THE END IS EXTREMELY F#&KING NIGH!)

We've begun quietly sharing that we're retiring the show after Ep100.

We love doing it, but the time demands for selecting guests & scheduling recordings have become a bit too much. We should have hired an intern!

We're considering Ep85-100 our final "season" and looking forward to going out with a bang. We’ll be giving away some goodies, printing a small batch of shirts for guest gifts, and taking movie requests.

So, let us know if there's a movie you'd like to hear us cover or a guest you'd like to have come on (or return to) the show, either in the comments or @thats_trash.

We appreciate each and every listener out there and hope you’ve enjoyed listening as much as we’ve loved talking about these movies over the years.

AFTER LAST SEASON (2009)

Matt, Joe, and Jacob do another in-person episode. This time Matt shared AFTER LAST SEASON and we talked about our feelings afterward. If you haven't seen it...do? I guess? You'll know another survivor when you meet them: a glazed look in their eyes, random small talk, and an aversion to '90s computer animation.

Your sculpture makes me want to stab my marshmallow face with an icicle.

Half the movie looks like this...seriously.

Up next...and...lost Ex-Hustlers found

Next week, we'll be doing something a little different. We'll be watching a movie for the first time together and then recording our show immediately after (sort of like how we did with F.A.R.T.: The Movie, but 'tapping out' isn't an option this time).
This time, Joe and Jacob will come together to watch 2009's After Last Season...a movie with a cat-on-a-Casio soundtrack, a cardboard and paper MRI machine, and 'cutting edge' computer animation straight out of 1990's The Mind's Eye series. It appears that YT has had to pull the full film down, but you can find it if you roll your sleeves up and look.

Also, Matt dug up the final track that the guys were wrapping up when the band Ex-Hustlers went on (what turned out to be permanent) hiatus. He edited together a final version of the various mixes and even made a vintage MTV-style music video for it. Enjoy.
